Tan Zhemin meets with delegation from Wageningen University & Research

On October 17, a delegation from Wageningen University & Research led by Carolien Kroeze, President and Vice Chairman of the Board, visited 优米直装下载app. Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with the Wageningen delegation on Xianlin Campus to discuss practical measures to deepen cooperation.

Tan Zhemin welcomed President Kroeze and her delegation, and briefly introduced NJU's recent progress and achievements in campus construction, scientific research, and international education. He pointed out that NJU and Wageningen University & Research have already carried out extensive cooperation in environmental science, ecological research and other fields, cultivating talents for sustainable development in both countries. He stated that the two universities should conduct higher-level joint research on sustainable development to provide solutions to common problems facing both countries and even humanity. He expressed hope that in the future, both sides would continuously promote practical cooperation through regularly holding bilateral seminars, establishing joint talent training programs, and jointly building research centers.

Carolien Kroeze highly appreciated NJU's educational achievements in recent years and fully affirmed the fruitful cooperation between the two universities over the past decade. She pointed out that based on the existing good cooperation, both sides should further expand the depth and breadth of collaboration, jointly commit to key areas such as enhancing ecosystem resilience, protecting global biodiversity, and building a climate-adaptive world, working together to make greater contributions to achieving a more sustainable future.

In the afternoon, the two universities held a working exchange meeting in the field of environment and ecology, chaired by Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU. Lu Yanqing introduced the progress of NJU's cooperation with Europe and indicated that specific research projects between the two universities could be supported through NJU's International Fellowship Initiative and International ResearchSeed Fund. Scholars from both sides shared their research directions and had in-depth discussions on key cooperation topics such as river ecological governance and new pollutant prevention and control, reaching broad consensus.
