Xu Ying, Member of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Publicity Department, attended the meeting. Xu Ying pointed out that constructing China's independent knowledge system aims not only to complete academic construction but also to observe, grasp, and lead the times with it, providing solid theoretical support and intellectual support for the great practice of Chinese modernization. Social science researchers should go to the frontlines of reform and development, keenly capturing the "real questions" raised by the times from practices, researching and refining distinctive concepts, constructing original theories, and better serving national development and contributing to humanity's knowledge treasury. They should promote the formation of efficient collaborative mechanisms across disciplines and departments, using Chinese theories to explain the Chinese path and Chinese scholarship to interpret the Chinese practice.

Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council briefly introduced NJU's relevant practices in actively striving to set an example in promoting the construction of China's independent knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences, such as taking the lead in formulating an action plan for philosophy and social sciences in the new era, focusing on exploring and implementing a collaborative innovation model of "big projects, big platforms, big achievements, big teams, big organizations," and achieving remarkable results in "serving national needs with NJU's strengths." He believed that constructing China's independent knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences is not something that can be accomplished overnight or in one step; it requires better adherence to "two combinations", better rooting in Chinese soil, better continuation of Chinese cultural heritage, better cultivation of academic foundations, continuously forming major theoretical achievements that keep pace with the times, answering major practical issues in China's economic development, and making China's philosophy and social sciences voice heard more loudly on the world stage.

Qu Futian, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences, who chaired the meeting, stated that Chinese modernization is a pioneering undertaking without precedent, and its rich practice far exceeds the explanatory scope of Western theories, requiring our own theories to explain, lead, and support it. The social science community across the province should further strengthen top-level design and overall planning, continue to hold a series of special symposiums in the fields of sociology and political science; universities, social science academic associations, and various social science research institutions across the province should make the construction of China's independent knowledge system the main direction of discipline construction in the coming period, focusing on the practice of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu, producing a batch of landmark achievements, and contributing more wisdom and strength to the construction of China's independent knowledge system.

In the keynote sharing session of the meeting, Hong Yinxing, former Chair of NJU CPC Council and Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences; Liu Wei, former President of Renmin University of China; Pang Jinqu, former Vice President and Chair Professor of Nankai University; Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Economics at Fudan University; Xu Kangning, Deputy Director and Professor of the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at Southeast University; Ren Baoping, Dean and Distinguished Professor of the School of Digital Economy and Management at NJU; and Feng Shuyi, Dean of the School of Public Administration at Nanjing Agricultural University and Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, delivered keynote speeches.
